Discernment Counseling sessions are $215 per hour. The first session is typically two hours and subsequent sessions are 90-minutes.
I am in-network with several insurance companies including Aetna*, Allied Health, Cigna, Humana, Medical Mutual**, Meritain, and Ohio Connect, Ohio Healthy and Optima. It is important you check details related to your plan to include your financial responsibility for deductible and co-payment amounts. Please confirm that I am listed by name as a provider in your network as some plans have a more restricted list of providers they cover and others offer behavioral health coverage through a third party provider that doesn’t include me.
Exceptions
*State of Ohio employees please note I am NOT in network with your plan as they offer mental health coverage through Optum/UBH.
Out-of-Network Benefits
If I am not in-network with your insurance provider, you may be eligible to pursue out-of-network benefits to reimburse you for a portion of the cost of care. Please check with your insurance provider to determine the scope of out-of-network benefits available to you to include your deductible and the percentage they will reimburse you. I will provide you with the necessary documentation to support your claim for out of network benefits if they are available to you.
Please note: Multiple-hour intensive sessions are typically not covered by insurance. No show or late cancellation fees are not covered by insurance.

You will come in as a couple but the most important work occurs in the one-to-one conversations with the counselor. Why? Because you are starting out in different places. The counselor respects your reasons for divorce while trying to open up the possibility of restoring the marriage to health. The counselor emphasizes the importance of each of you seeing your own contributions to the problems and the possible solutions. This will be useful in future relationships even if this one ends.
Discernment Counseling is a committed process, a decision that is made before beginning. Discernment Counseling may not be a good fit when one spouse has already made a final decision to divorce, or when one spouse is coercing the other to participate, or when there is danger of domestic violence
