About Me

My name is Krista Sisterhen and I am the owner of Evensong LLC - a private practice offering counseling and consulting services. I am a Certified Discernment Counselor and Fellow, having completed a year-long residency with Dr. Bill Doherty, founder of Discernment Counseling. It takes a lot of courage to seek help when things aren’t going well and it is hard to know where to turn. I understand. You want someone who can help you work through a challenging time with compassion, wisdom, skill and respect - someone you can trust. Toward that end, I want you to know a little more about my experience, specialties and the services I offer.

Education + Experience

I earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Washington in 1989. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Ohio. I began my career as a social worker in 1983 providing therapy to active duty service members with the U.S. Army. My clinical specialties in substance abuse and trauma led me to work with veterans in residential and out-patient settings. As a result of this experience, I developed a wide range of clinical expertise and began serving individuals, couples and families in private practice. In 2001, I added mediation services to my practice to assist couples contemplating divorce and others looking to restore fractured family or work relationships. In 2020, I became a certified Discernment Counselor to better assist couples on the brink of divorce and in 2022, I became an active member of the Central Ohio Association of Collaborative Law Professionals as a family coach.

Therapeutic Approach

I have advanced training in and use three complimentary and highly effective therapeutic approaches to support couples: Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method and the Family FIRO Systems Model. I am also a certified Discernment Counselor and able to help couples on the brink of divorce determine a path forward with clarity and confidence. In addition, I have advanced training in and use three well-researched and effective therapeutic models with individuals: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy. My experience in different treatment settings with a wide variety of clients and therapeutic approaches over the years enables me to develop a thoughtful and responsive approach to meet your goals.

My dog, Mosey, joins me most days in the office. He is a young Bernedoodle training to be a therapy dog. He is hypoallergenic and enjoys making new friends and welcoming them to the office.

I love my work and I am inspired by my Christian faith to serve all of my clients with respect and excellence. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you achieve your goals with hope and confidence.
